While learning about Puerto Rico, we found the history of the island important to share when we are figuring out how it got to the position of being the most impoverished area in U.S. territory. How they were not ready for any massive natural disasters is an example of how their community is not being cared for. Puerto Rico needs our attention, they are our American friends who are putting all their attention into surviving day-to-day after Hurricane Maria and Fiona as well as fighting for independence against the U.S. and a better life.
